SUMMARY:
As a graphic designer—or graphic artist—volunteer, you will assist Leadership Ottawa to plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to organization’s communications. You will help us to find the most effective way to get messages across in print and electronic media using color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques. You will be part of the team which will develop the overall layout and production design of promo materials: brochures, fliers, booklets, posters, publications etc. You will also produce promotional displays, packaging, and marketing brochures for products and services, design (adapt) distinctive logos for products and projects, and develop signs and signage systems—called environmental graphics. You will also assist with the development of materials for www.leadershipottawa.org and 3isummit.ca Web pages, interactive media, and multimedia projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of two years experience as a graphic designer in the following areas: Interactive, agency creative, and graphic design
• Minimum of one year of experience in Web design and online marketing
• Fluency in current graphic design practices and web production software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects
• Ability to create superior, original designs for the Web and for printed materials
• Strong design style, including creative design solutions within the constraints of the Internet
• Strong conceptual skills, including online software concepts and online experience concepts
• Solid understanding of client deliverables, and the ability to take responsibility for them.
• Strong technical knowledge of how web-based technologies apply to web design such as HTML, Flash, CSS, and AJAX.
• Knowledge of Web site structure and functionality.
• Understanding of and experience in corporate branding, layout, colour theory and typography in both print and digital media.
• Has demonstrated successful design and integration, and the delivery of projects on time and within the given budget.
• Ability to work independently on strategic issues with client, capable of managing fairly complex projects
• Ability to work with a large variety of clients,
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines is essential for a fast-paced environment
TIME REQUIREMENTS:
Expected volunteer time per week: 4-6/week from now until the end of 2nd week of December 2010
Participation at committee’s meetings: 2 hours every second week
